Looking for lunch on the Southside?
At Ethical Futures, we're always happy to feature local community projects. One of our longstanding clients, Claire Stevens was recently telling me about this project that she is involved in at Bridgend Farmhouse, on the south side of Edinburgh.
Since moving to the south side of the city, Claire and her partner have been very heavily involved with Bridgend Inspiring Growth at Bridgend Farmhouse. Claire is on the Board and her partner looks after their IT, website and newsletter (great site – check it out here http://www.bridgendfarmhouse.org.uk/).
Claire says “When we first moved here, the farmhouse was still a derelict, almost burnt-out shell, but earlier this year the Lottery funded renovation work was completed, we had a big opening party and are now well underway to becoming a vibrant community hub and social enterprise. It's the most inspirational, thriving community initiative imaginable, with a firm focus on practising sustainable ways of living and enjoyment of the outdoor environment.”
The renovated farmhouse now exists as a sustainable community-owned centre for learning, eating and exercise, where all can learn, work and grow together to develop a flourishing community and place. It’s got a great café, runs a range of interesting courses and is a gateway to Craigmillar Castle Park – so get on down there and check it out and support this exciting local project.
