The annual film festival kicks off in Edinburgh from the 16th to the 18th of September.
Take One Action is an Edinburgh based independent charity formed in 2008. They are made up of film enthusiasts and concerned global citizens who believe that film has the power to change the world. Their Take One Action Film Festival takes place in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness as well as online each year. The festival is comprised of a range of film screenings, talks and training opportunities and aims to bring together film makers, politicians, artists, campaigners, individuals and anyone else who believes they can make a difference. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘land’ and looks at the ways in which it can be used as a resource, as a source of power and as a terrain for violence. There are four feature films on this year’s schedule; ‘Foragers’, ‘Delikado’, ‘Hostile’ and ‘The Mushroom Speaks’ with a range of short films available to watch online.
Foragers
This film focuses on the Palestinian people who try to forage for traditional foods akkoub and za’atar but find themselves facing fines and punishment. Israeli legislation separates these people from their land and history. Click here for more information.

Meaning ‘dangerous’ in Tagalog, Delikado shares the story of the fearless Filipino land defenders and their fight against illegal loggers in Palawan. Click here for more information.
Hostile
Set in the United Kingdom, Hostile focusses on the plight of migrants. From the Windrush scandal to the impact of Covid-19, this film scrutinises the ways in which migrants are bullied into leaving this country. Click here for more information.
