We have recently welcomed a new member to our paraplanning team, Ellie Maletto.
She’s kindly taken the time to chat with our marketing and communications assistant, Marian, to introduce herself to our clients.
How long have you been a paraplanner?
I have been a paraplanner for around two years now after starting my initial training just before the pandemic hit. I have been working in financial services since 2016 as an administrator.
Why did you decide to become a paraplanner?
I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Masters in History in 2015 and honestly, I don’t think I ever envisaged myself working in financial services! However, paraplanning appeals to my inquisitive nature as I like to research and I’m always keen to problem solve so I enjoy the technical challenges. I like helping people and feeling like I’m working on something that will make a difference to someone.
Why have you chosen to specialise in ethical finance?
Before I started working in financial services, I don’t think I’d put much thought into the impact that your pension and investments can have. I’d always been very careful about what products I purchased but investments seemed on a vastly different scale. Once I was introduced to the world of ethical finance, I couldn’t stop thinking about the power and potential money has to change the world. I feel very passionately about the role we can play in improving society and protecting the planet. Specialising in ethical finance allows me to connect my personal values to my work.
What drew you to Ethical Futures?
I knew I wanted to be able to focus on this area and I really believe that there’s a lot of work to do in ethical finance. So, it exciting to be part of a business that is at the forefront of this and has such a wealth of experience. There is so much I can learn at Ethical Futures and I’m really pleased to be part of the wonderful team here and to be working with Ethical Futures’ clients.
What do you like doing outside of work?
I enjoy music and going to gigs with my husband. I love to read and I’ve recently been getting into gardening.

Qualifications
I have a (very useful) degree in History and I’m currently studying for the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning which should be completed soon.
