What is Good Money Week?

What is Good Money Week? image

Hosted by UKSIF since 2005, Good Money Week is an annual event bringing people together to help promote sustainable, responsible and ethical finance. Their series of panels, discussions and debates give people the necessary information they need to make good money choices both in terms of financial return and ethical merit.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in financial terminology that may be confusing for consumers. Terms such as ESG, sustainable finance, stewardship, responsible finance, climate aware and SDG aligned (amongst others) may not be readily understood by the average consumer. Good Money Week aims to help demystify these aspects of finance.

What will happen during Good Money Week?

Starting on Monday 3rd of October, UKSIF will be hosting a variety of online events covering a range of relevant themes and topics. Click here to see ‘What’s On’.

We feel that in the year since COP26, we have not seen as much change as we would have liked. But we have come to realise that change starts at home. With that in mind, and the fact that we are very aware of how carbon conscious our sector is, we have decided to embark on Carbon Literacy training. This will allow us to take a step back and fully assess the carbon footprint of our business which will, in turn, help us to set a path that we can travel along in the future that will help us to improve. The training will take us some time to get through but we are committed to this project and are keen to see it through. We’ll make sure to keep you updated on our progress!

We are also hosting our first in person event since before 2020. We are collaborating with the team at Rathbone Greenbank to host a roundtable event with a selection of Rathbone Greenbank clients. We aim to discuss the development of our relationship with RG, how both businesses have grown in recent years, a review of the market and the ways in which RG engage with ethical investment. Although this is a one off event specifically for select Rathbone Greenbank clients, we’re viewing it as a trial run of sorts with a view to hosting more events in the future.

Keep an eye on our social media as some of Good Money Week’s events will be live tweeted. Click here to find us on Twitter.
